Just to let everyone know where I've been, and what I've been up to...
I got the game Demon's Souls...and it's just as wickedly addicting as Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It is quite a difficult game, but I have so far perservered. My character is level 170 currently, out of 712. I am on my 4th New Game+, and am very close to unlocking an achievement. I need to collect every type of ring in the game, and am currently missing 2. (Friend's Ring, Ring of Magical Dullness) On top of that, I am also on the verge of having ideal stats for equipping any weapon. I need a Faith of 24 to equip a 'Lightsaber Bustersword' thing, and a magic of 18 for the Blueblood Sword.
The game, as I said, can be quite difficult. I have seen what evil game designers can do. I have gained a dislike of Lava Monsters, Manticores, Black Skeletons, STING RAYS (Mother-effing Sting Rays!), and everything about a place I like to call.... THE BOG OF INCOMPARABLE BULLSHIT.
There is a world in this game called the Valley of Defilement. It consists of 3 very sucky areas. The first is a very dark walk through a goblin-infested maze of tattered wood planks over a death pit. This is the easy part. EASY EVEN WITH THE TWO GIANT GOBLINS WITH CLUBS YOU CANNOT DEFEND YOURSELF FROM. Get past all that and you fight a...leech monster....Nothing too difficult.
OH, BUT THEN YOU ENTER THE BOG OF INCOMPARABLE BULLSHIT. A hateful romp through a HUGE and flat pool of mud that constantly poisons you, and within which you CANNOT ROLL TO AVOID ENEMY ATTACKS. Within this BOG OF INCOMPARABLE BULLSHIT are spiteful little jellyfish who fire spines that hurt like hell if you get too close, as well as many horrible knife-weilding goblins who have the most inconvenient attack patterns, natural camoflauge, and homies hidden in the woodworks so they attack in swarms. Add in more giant goblins, with their clubs you cannot block with a shield, and add in terrain which you cannot dodge in, and you have a vague consensus of how much THE BOG OF INCOMPARABLE BULLSHIT sucks. Oh, I haven't even mentioned the Black Phantoms, Giant Mosquitos, and Toxic slugs that also litter this evil place, but you get the idea.
At the end of THE BOG OF INCOMPARABLE BULLSHIT you are fortunately faced with an easy boss called the Dirty Colossus. It's not really that big... It's a golem made of....stuff. Poison stuff. And it shoots swarms of flies at you. Past that is the Archdemon fight against Maiden Astraea and her bodyguard Garl Vinland. This is the only part which does not suck, because Garl only attacks when you get too close, and he doesn't move positions. Once you kill him, you just talk to the boss and she kills herself. (Damn right, bitch!) Or if you're feeling angry about THE BOG OF INCOMPARABLE BULLSHIT you can always attack Maiden Astraea. She has one weak attack, and she never moves. She's not a hard boss, but getting to her the normal way...is ASS. There's not just a POISON swamp here, but a PLAGUE swamp. Plague = Poison on Steroids. And within this Plagued goop are these freaky little skinless monsters that are ALL OVER THE FRIGGIN PLACE.
Anyway...
I have much hate for THE BOG OF INCOMPARABLE BULLSHIT and would love to make it die. The rest of the game is fun and challenging though. And as I said, I am close to reaching my goals. Once I have all my rings and trophies, I shall quickly tire of THE BOG OF INCOMPARABLE BULLSHIT and return in haste!
To my good fortune, I will be getting a laptop for Christmas, so in a month or so, even if I am still playing, I'll be on the boards.
